Re/Dress, fat fashion, FUCK YEAH
So by now y’all probably know that I went to New York City last week with tangledupinlace to attend the Re/Dress Indie+Show. There we met a whole host of rad fatties, including Marianne (therotund), Zoe (outselvage), Christina (xtinathegreat), Felicia (there w/Manik Magazine), Rachel (of Cupcake & Cuddlebunny), Rachel (girthfulgirl) and the lovely Re/Dress shopgirl (and now officially one of my favorite people) Taueret (afrotitty).
Not gonna lie, between the Adipositivity shoot & the fashion show, that Friday was probably the best day of my life.
If you’ve been following the event at all, you’re probably sick of hearing about it. But just in case you’re not, here are a few pics from my personal camera:
And some pictures of the gorgeous stuff I bought at Re/Dress and while in NYC…
That gorgeous Asos dress that Jess borrowed for the Re/Dress event (paired with maroon Mudd heels, an alligator Hermes bag—authenticity questionable, and a headband from F21):
This beautiful Dorothy Perkins blue eyelet dress (paired with black skinnies from Torrid, a gray blazer Lane Bryant and tan flats by Ciao Bella):
A high-waisted silk skirt from Jones New York (size “0X”—haha sizing is ridiculous) with brown maryjane heels from Payless and an old v-neck from Old Navy:
ANNNDDD a beautiful belt from Dorothy Perkins (paired with a new tunic purchased at the gigantic F21 in Times Square, a cardigan also from F21, and leggings from ON):
And while the Re/Dress Indie+ show was great, my shopping experience atRe/Dress was even better. I love that I can walk into the store and chat about fat activism and fatshion and no one will bat an eye. If I dare say the word “fat” in a Torrid, I get a horrendous expression from the sales person and other shoppers recoil from me in horror. I LOVE that the people at Re/Dress get FA and loving yourself and using fashion to celebrate—rather than hide—your body. I even got to change in a dressing room named for Mama Cass, while “Dream a Little Dream” was playing! HEAVEN. source
